How to Set Up a Telegram Bot on IBWatch

A Telegram bot allows you to automate how traders interact with your IBWatch account. It can welcome new users, display your bot menus, provide access instructions, collect the information required to identify traders, and direct qualified users to your Telegram channels.

Before setting up the bot on IBWatch, you must first create the bot directly on Telegram. Telegram will then provide a unique bot token that you will use to connect the bot to your IBWatch account.

What You Need Before You Begin

To complete this setup, you will need:

  • An active Telegram account

  • An IBWatch account

  • An active IBWatch subscription plan

  • Access to the IBWatch dashboard

  • A name and username for your Telegram bot

Your bot username must be unique and must end with bot. For example:

  • PipsWealthBot

  • PipsWealthVIPBot

  • MyTradingCommunityBot

Step 1: Open BotFather on Telegram

Log in to the Telegram account you want to use to manage your bot.

Using the Telegram search bar, search for:

@BotFather

BotFather is Telegram’s official bot for creating and managing other Telegram bots.

Make sure you select the official BotFather account. The account should have a verification badge.

Open the chat and click Start.

You can also type:

/start

BotFather will display a list of commands that can be used to create and manage your bots.

Step 2: Create a New Telegram Bot

In the BotFather chat, type:

/newbot

BotFather will ask you to provide a name for your new bot.

The bot name is the display name that users will see when they open your bot. It does not need to be unique.

For example:

PipsWealth VIP

After entering the bot name, BotFather will ask you to provide a username for the bot.

The username:

  • Must be unique

  • Must not contain spaces

  • Can contain letters, numbers, and underscores

  • Must end with bot

For example:

PipsWealthVIPBot

When choosing a username, use something that is easy for your traders to recognize and remember.

If the username has already been taken, BotFather will ask you to choose another one.

Continue trying different usernames until Telegram accepts one.

Step 3: Copy Your Telegram Bot Token

Once your bot has been created successfully, BotFather will send you a confirmation message containing a unique bot token.

The token will look similar to this:

1234567890:ABCDefGhIJKlmNoPQRstuVWxyz

This token allows IBWatch to communicate with your Telegram bot.

Copy the entire token exactly as it appears.

Do not add spaces before or after the token.

Keep Your Bot Token Secure

Your Telegram bot token should be treated like a password.

Anyone who has access to the token may be able to control the bot, send messages through it, or interfere with its operation.

Do not:

  • Post the token in a Telegram group or channel

  • Send it to your traders

  • Add it to public screenshots

  • Share it on social media

  • Store it in a public document

Only enter the token inside the appropriate Telegram bot section of your IBWatch dashboard.

If you accidentally expose your token, return to BotFather and generate a new one before continuing.

Step 4: Open the Telegram Bots Section on IBWatch

Log in to your IBWatch account.

From the side menu of your dashboard, select:

Telegram Bots under Telegram Config

This section displays all the Telegram bots connected to your IBWatch account.

Click the New Telegram Bot button to begin the setup.

Step 5: Enter Your Bot Details

Complete the Telegram bot registration form using the details of the bot you created with BotFather.

You may be asked to provide the following information:

Bot Token

Paste the complete bot token copied from BotFather.

Review the token carefully and make sure:

  • The full token has been copied

  • No characters are missing

  • There are no spaces at the beginning

  • There are no spaces at the end

  • You have not pasted the bot username instead of the bot token

After entering the required details, click Submit.

Step 6: Confirm That the Bot Has Been Added

Once the bot has been added successfully, it should appear in the Telegram Bots table on your IBWatch dashboard.

The table may display information such as:

  • Bot name

  • Bot username

  • Date created

  • Available actions

How to Replace a Compromised Bot Token

If your bot token is accidentally shared publicly, you should replace it immediately.

Open BotFather and select the affected bot.

Use the available token-management option to revoke the old token and generate a new one.

After generating the new token:

  1. Copy the new token.

  2. Log in to your IBWatch dashboard.

  3. Open Telegram Bots.

  4. Select the affected bot.

  5. Replace the old token with the new token.

  6. Save the changes.

  7. Test the bot again on Telegram.

The old token should no longer be used.

Important Security Recommendations

To keep your Telegram bot secure:

  • Never share the bot token publicly

  • Only give trusted team members access to your IBWatch dashboard

  • Use a strong password for your Telegram account

  • Enable two-step verification on Telegram

  • Remove former team members from your bot and channel administration

  • Review your Telegram channel administrators regularly

  • Replace the bot token if you believe it has been exposed

  • Avoid requesting sensitive passwords through Telegram chats

Final Setup Checklist

Before publishing your Telegram bot, confirm that:

  • The bot was created through the official BotFather

  • The bot username ends with bot

  • The bot token has been copied securely

  • The bot has been added to IBWatch

Once all these steps have been completed, your Telegram bot is ready to onboard and manage users through IBWatch.
